Who is the Course for?

  • Have a diagnosis for Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Be between 16 years and 22 years of age
  • Be able to cope in small groups with support

No formal qualifications are needed, just a willingness to learn.

How to apply?

Applications are welcome from learners living locally or within traveling distance from neighbouring counties. Prospective learners, parents or relevant professionals can make enquiries or request an information pack which includes an application form through their school or connexions advisor. Learners and parents/carers usually request a visit to view the college and its facilities.

On receipt of a completed application form the formal process of assessment will commence.

  • A letter will be sent acknowledging the application and outlining the next steps.
  • Arrangements will be made either with the school or the parent / carer to meet, observe and assess the learner, giving the opportunity to find out the level of support needed and focus on planning the learning programme for the learner.
  • On completion of the observation a report is forwarded to NORSACA’s admissions panel. From there a letter is sent out reporting on the panel’s decision which may be an offer of a place.
  • On acceptance of the offer of a place, bespoke transition arrangements are made with the parents / carers and / or school.
  • Subject to funding being available a start date is agreed.

At all times liaison with parents / carers and related agencies makes the transition a smooth and successful experience.
